Privacy Policy
This policy explains what Matcha Wire (operated by Ooika) collects, why, and what you can do about it. We keep it short because we collect little.
What we collect
- Account: your email address and a securely hashed password. We never store your password in plain text.
- Billing: a Stripe customer and subscription reference, and your subscription status. Your card number is handled entirely by Stripe — we never see or store it.
- Security & activity: to protect accounts and prevent abuse we log sign-ins and requests, including IP address, browser user-agent, timestamps, and the pages/endpoints accessed.
- Preferences: a small session cookie keeps you signed in and remembers your theme.
We do not sell your data, and we don't run third-party advertising or tracking networks.
How we use it
- to provide the Service and keep you signed in;
- to process your subscription (via Stripe);
- to secure accounts, detect and prevent abuse, and enforce our Terms (e.g. rate limits and account sharing);
- to send you service and account emails (e.g. password reset, billing notices).
Bring-your-own-AI translations
If you use our browser extension to translate a full article, that happens in your browser using your own Claude or OpenAI account. The article text and your API key are sent only to the AI provider you chose, under their privacy policy — never to Matcha Wire.
Who we share with
- Stripe — payment processing.
- Infrastructure providers — hosting and email delivery, acting on our behalf.
- Legal — if required by law or to protect our rights.
Retention
We keep account and billing data while your account is active. Security and activity logs are kept for a limited period (currently about 90 days) and then removed. If you delete your account, we remove your personal data except where we must retain records (e.g. tax/billing) or in anonymized form.
Your choices
- Access or correct your account details, or cancel anytime from your account.
- Ask us to delete your account and personal data by emailing us.
- Reset your password from the sign-in page.
Children
The Service isn't directed to children under 16, and we don't knowingly collect their data.
